The Centre de Recherche sur l’Inflammation brings together some 250 researchers, teacher-researchers, university hospital staff, technical staff (ITA), doctoral students, post-docs and trainees, with the aim of establishing a Center of Excellence in France that links basic research with translational and clinical research into inflammatory diseases.
The CRI is home to 12 teams accredited by INSERM, Université Paris Cité and CNRS, and works closely with APHP to ensure that research is applied.
CRI is a major player in the “Institute of Inflammatory Diseases” (Inflamex) laboratory of excellence coordinated by R. Monteiro, the Unity DHU (directed by D. Valla) and the Fire DHU (co-coordinated by B. Crestani, G. Steg & E. Daugas).
The Center provides researchers and engineers from all over the world with 5 scientific platforms and 10 technical platforms, as well as services in the fields of proteomics, recombinant protein construction, electron microscopy, biochemistry and small animal imaging.
Most of the center’s activities are carried out on the Hôpital Bichat campus, within the Université Paris Cité. The Beaujon and Robert Debré sites complete the CRI’s facilities, which now cover more than 4,000 m2.
The objectives of the CRI are :
- a fundamental understanding of the basis of inflammatory processes and the development
of fibrosis - identify new pathophysiological mechanisms of inflammatory diseases
- identify biomarkers associated with diseases and develop new imaging tools
- create new preclinical animal models enabling proof of concept (POC) for
the study of inflammatory diseases - research into new therapeutic approaches.
