Doctoral student representatives play a crucial role as spokespersons and representatives of doctoral student interests on center boards. Their main task is to represent the expectations, needs and perspectives of doctoral students in discussions and decision-making within these bodies. As mediators between doctoral students and management, they ensure that doctoral students’ voices are heard and taken into account.
At the same time, doctoral student representatives are responsible for passing on important information to the center’s doctoral students, whether concerning administrative changes, funding opportunities, available resources or other information relevant to doctoral life. In this way, they contribute to strengthening communication and transparency within the CRI.
In addition to their representation and communication role, doctoral student representatives are involved in the organization of events such as the Journées Jeunes Chercheurs (J²C) aimed at fostering cohesion between doctoral students themselves and researchers. These events can include seminars, workshops, informal get-togethers and other social activities. By creating a space conducive to exchanges between doctoral students, the representatives help to build a collaborative and supportive environment, essential for the well-being and success of each individual during their doctoral studies. In short, the role of doctoral student representatives is multifaceted, combining institutional representation, proactive communication and the promotion of a sense of belonging within the doctoral community.
