PhD students, postdocs, undergrads, technicians, engineers, research scientists, associate professor, PIs, faculty staff\u2026 you are all invited and needed to\u00a0talk to high school students about research<\/strong>! Become\u00a0Declics Ambassadors<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and speak of this action around you!<\/p>\n

You have nothing to prepare, just reserve half a day in your schedule Preferentially\u00a0Thursday the 18th<\/sup>\u00a0of November between 14.00 and 17.00<\/strong>. Do not worry, they do speak some English and from experience, high school students are very impressed by the fact that science happens in English and that people come from abroad to do research in France!<\/p>\n

Why (some reasons):<\/u><\/p>\n

\u21d2 to help future citizens understand why basic research matters and how it works<\/p>\n

\u21d2 to help young adults in their studies choice<\/p>\n

\u21d2 to try to build a lasting relationship with teachers<\/p>\n

\u21d2 to promote critical thinking and explain how knowledge is validated<\/p>\n

\u21d2 to share your passion<\/p>\n

\u21d2 to increase trust in science and scientists<\/p>\n

When, where:<\/u><\/p>\n

Preferentially\u00a0Thursday the 18th<\/sup>\u00a0of November between 14.00 and 17.00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But other slots available, in person and remotely! Detail in the\u00a0registration form<\/a><\/p>\n

What:<\/u><\/p>\n

Practically speaking, high school students will attend a special Declics encounter lasting half a day. Declics (Dialogues Entre Chercheurs et Lyc\u00e9ens pour les Int\u00e9resser \u00e0 la Construction des Savoirs) is a half-day program based on three-steps. You can find more information about it\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We need you to become a Declics Ambassador by participating to the second moment of this encounter: a\u00a0speed-meeting<\/strong>\u00a0lasting 1h30. You will be seated with a group of five high school students to talk about your job, your daily occupation and research and answer their questions. Every 12 minutes a bell will ring: it will be the moment for you to meet a new group of students.<\/p>\n

You have nothing to prepare, just be there !\u00a0<\/strong>Practically speaking you start the discussion by presenting yourself (who you are, what you do) and the conversation goes on. Beware, it is not a short conference but a real exchange!<\/p>\n

How:<\/u>\u00a0<\/p>\n

To become a Declics Ambassador you do have to fill this\u00a0online form<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Note that there may be several Declics events in your city. Don’t hesitate to go to more than one! There are also remote events.<\/p>\n

At your request, you can be provided with a participation certificate after the encounter.<\/p>\n
