Since 1951, are organized in Lindau in Germany the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and this year, the 68th<\/sup><\/span> meeting took place from 24 to 29 of June 2018. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Irini Evnouchidou, who is a member of the ATIP-Avenir Team Saveanu of CRI, was selected to participate to this great international scientific appointment. She had the chance to present a poster of her work \u201cThe function of IRAP+ endosomes in T cells\u201d, being part of the 30 posters that were selected for this meeting. Moreover, the poster presenters had also the opportunity to present their work in a 2min \u201cPoster Flash\u201d in front of the 600 young scientists and 39 Nobel Laureates, after being trained by specialists in the domain of science communication.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings motto is \u201ceducate, inspire, connect\u201d and their objective is to promote interactions between young scientists of less than 35 years old and Nobel Laureates in the domains of Physiology, Medicine and Chemistry. These interactions are facilitated by events where young scientists can get to meet and discuss with Laureates in small groups such as the \u201cScience Walks\u201d and the \u201cLunches\u201d with a Laureate of their choice. Irini participated in a Lunch with Dr. Ciechanover who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2004 for the discovery of ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation. Between the excellent Laureate presentations, there were those of Dr. Blackburn (protection of chromosomes by the telomeres and the telomerase), Dr. Beutler (innate immunity activation), Dr. Scheckman (machinery that regulates vesicle trafficking), Dr. Yonath (ribosome structure and function) and Dr. Moser (cells that constitute a positioning system in the brain). A point that was elevated by many Laureates during this meeting was the importance of \u201cbiology preprints\u201d <\/span><\/span>(<\/span><\/ins><\/span>www.biorxiv.org<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/ins><\/span>) <\/span><\/ins><\/span>where each one can find much more recent papers in his field (before they are published in pubmed) and which can help authors to ameliorate their work before passing the long procedure of publishing. Moreover, this meeting provided enriching moments of \u201cpanel discussions\u201d dealing with essential matters for all the scientific community.
