The iMAP platform – Multimodal Imaging Applied to Pathology is proud to announce that it has been awarded the IBiSA label for a period of two years.

In early 2025, iMAP applied to join the IBiSA network, which supports technological platforms in their technological and methodological development projects, as well as in their quality management processes.

Following the evaluation of the scientific dossier and an on-site visit, iMAP was granted the IBiSA label, recognizing its expertise, strong commitment, and openness to the scientific community.

Bringing together researchers and pathologists within a unique environment, iMAP offers comprehensive expertise in multimodal imaging, including histology, immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunofluorescence, and mass spectrometry imaging.

The platform also provides transcriptomic and bioinformatics analyses, enabling the integration of molecular data with morphological features to better understand tissue heterogeneity, particularly in the fields of inflammation and cancer.

Thanks to the speakers for the quality of their presentations, and to all participants for their curiosity and enthusiasm!

The day highlighted the richness and diversity of the work being carried out by the young researchers in our teams.
Between presentations, discussions and the sharing of experiences, the day was a reminder of the extent to which research is above all a collective adventure.

Once again, this year’s event confirmed that the next generation of scientists is promising, passionate and full of ideas.

Nephrologist, researcher and head of the “Renal diseases and monoclonal immunoglobulins” team at CRI – Inflammation Research CenterDr Camille Cohen is also co-coordinator of FHU INFIRE.

What is the aim of the award-winning project?
The InProgCKD project aims to decipher the early signals of inflammation in the kidney and the interactions between kidney cells that contribute to the development of renal fibrosis, a key step in the worsening of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Why is this important?
CKD affects 1 in 10 people worldwide and could become the 5ᵉ cause of death by 2040.
By combining molecular and histopathological analyses with clinical biopsy data, InProgCKD seeks to identify new predictive markers of progression and possible innovative therapeutic targets.

This work could pave the way for novel approaches to preventing irreversible degradation of kidney function, both in transplantation and in chronic kidney disease.

Congratulations again to Camille Cohen for this award and for her promising contribution to research in nephrology, dialysis and transplantation!

These high school students had the opportunity to take part in various scientific projects, observe laboratory experiments and discover the many facets of the research profession. They followed several teams, from cell biology to data analysis, and explored the diversity of our center.

At the same time, they worked together to create a collective poster, recounting their experience, their discoveries and the highlights of their internship.

We’re delighted to have been able to share our daily lives with the next generation, and wish them every success in the future!

The CRI Acquires the Sony ID7000 Spectral Cell Analyzer

We are pleased to announce the installation of the Sony Biotechnology ID7000 Spectral Cell Analyzer at our center. This next-generation cytometer represents a major advancement in our cell analysis capabilities, offering high-performance spectral flow cytometry tailored to the most demanding biomedical research applications.

Unlike conventional systems, the ID7000 is based on full-spectrum analysis: instead of isolating specific fluorescence bands using filters, it captures the entire emission spectrum of each fluorochrome. This approach enables the distinction of fluorochromes with highly similar spectral profiles, paving the way for panels of over 44 colors.

The system is configured with six lasers: 320 nm, 355 nm, 405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, and 633 nm. This high-resolution configuration allows for the precise identification of cell subpopulations and the detection of rare or low-expression markers. The 320 nm laser specifically improves panel resolution by enhancing the spectral unmixing process.

The ID7000’s integrated software is designed to streamline workflows, from daily calibration to data analysis. Key features include:

• Automated setup and quality control at the beginning of each day;

• Automated acquisition mode (24-tube rack, 96-well plates [U, V, flat-bottom], 384-well plates);

• Standardization mode (enabling multi-site studies with identical configurations);

• A spectral reference library to avoid repeated single-color control acquisitions;

• Advanced autofluorescence correction and unmixing tools for more reliable data;

• An integrated AutoSampler with clog detection for walkaway acquisition.

A New Asset for Our Research Projects

With its advanced performance, the ID7000 enables us to pursue innovative experimental approaches across a range of research fields, including:

• Deep immunophenotyping

• Biomarker detection in rare cell populations

• Study of immune responses and cytokine expression

• Analysis of extracellular vesicles or viral particles (resolution down to 160 nm)

Combining high sensitivity, operational flexibility, and reliability, this new equipment significantly enhances the technological capabilities of our laboratory.

The ID7000 is available in Room 414, 4th floor.

Our priorities for the 2025-2030 mandate are clear:

• Continue cutting-edge fundamental and translational research on inflammatory and tumor pathologies while expanding our scope to pulmonary diseases.
• Develop innovative experimental and technological approaches.
• Strengthen our national and international collaborations.
• Encourage and support young researchers in their scientific and medical careers.

This day was also an opportunity to popularize their master’s, thesis or post-doc project in three minutes, with the “Pitch your project” session.
