https://cri1149.fr/publication/les-patients-adultes-de-sexe-masculin-porteurs-de-mutations-du-gene-dkc1-presentent-une-fibrose-pulmonaire-dapparition-precoce-et-un-pronostic-severe

FIBROCUT – Targeting immune checkpoints in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Scientific coordinator: Georges Helou – Inflammation and fibrosis in lung diseases team – UMR 1149 – CRI Inflammation Research Center

Equipment : VF-510-0Z Compresstome® Vibrating Microtome

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, fatal lung disease. Recent studies have confirmed the key role of immune cells in regulating the progression of IPF. Immune checkpoints, receptors that modulate the intensity of the immune response, have become innovative targets in cancer. Given the common molecular pathways between IPF and cancer, and the central role of the immune system in IPF, we investigated the involvement of immune checkpoints in this disease. Using transcriptomic analysis and flow cytometry, we identified two immune checkpoints relevant to IPF and demonstrated their modulatory roles. We now aim to implement ex vivo translational models using precision lung sections (PCLS) from murine and human lung biopsies to assess the therapeutic potential of targeting these receptors in pulmonary fibrosis. The generation of viable and structurally preserved 3D PCLS cultures requires a high-precision vibratome system, hence the interest of this funding request.

🧪 Panic in the lab! The mystery of the diseased liver

To mark the Fête de la Science (Thursday, October 9),AP-HP, Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris, has initiated and supported an original scientific mediation project: an educational escape game designed and run by doctors and researchers at our Research Center.

👩‍🔬 Students had 1 hour to understand why the liver was becoming diseased and threatening to contaminate other cells, and to find the right treatment before it was too late!

This initiative welcomed four classes from Ville de Clichy-la-Garenne to the Beaujon hospital, in a fun and educational atmosphere, to bring science to life and make it accessible to all.

Workshop prepared by Valerie Paradis and researchers/engineers Aurélie Beaufrère, Matthieu Tihy, Camille Pignolet, Gabriel Cordova, Miguel Albuquerque, Lucy Bourlet,Meriem Marref, Arnaud Sénécaut, Olivier Fourati, Ghalia Ben Ghedifa, Samira Laouirem, Killian Véron, Lucie Gomes, Norma Bloy, and the Anatomical Pathology Department.

Thanks to the speakers for the quality of their presentations, and to all participants for their curiosity and enthusiasm!

The day highlighted the richness and diversity of the work being carried out by the young researchers in our teams.
Between presentations, discussions and the sharing of experiences, the day was a reminder of the extent to which research is above all a collective adventure.

Once again, this year’s event confirmed that the next generation of scientists is promising, passionate and full of ideas.
